The Registered Dieticians at Futures provide dietary/nutrition
services to individuals in a variety of settings, from programs
for individuals with developmental disabilities to skilled nursing
facilities and hospitals. Services provided may include the coordination
of nutrition services, and ensuring that nutritional preferences
and needs of specific individuals are identified and addressed.
Our Dieticians may:
- Complete an initial nutrition evaluation and report
- Develop
a nutrition plan based upon the evaluation, identify nutrition
needs, and personal preferences
- Implement, monitor, and modify
the nutrition plan in accordance with individual preferences
and established needs
- Instruct and educate care giving staff
regarding the implementation of the nutrition plan
- Coordinate
the nutrition plan with the physician and other team members
to ensure the appropriate implementation
of the plan
- Assess and monitor the quality and appropriateness
of nutrition and food services provided through assigned
sites, according
to current, applicable standards
Individuals may be referred to Dieticians at Futures when they
experience needs related to:
- Enteral feeding protocols
- Nutritional treatment for diabetes
- Cardiac health
- Renal health
- Gastro-esophageal reflux
- Hypertension
- Prevention and promotion of wound healing
- Demonstration of appropriate diet textures
- Education on food safety and sanitation as well as proper
food preparation
- Basic good nutritional eating habits
